J'adore decor

Today I had a photo shoot with Katherina Dewson who has modeled for many other photographers in the area. She's so talented with an amazing portfolio of work that I absolutely love. She sent me a few ideas of photos that she would like to get done to add to her collection of work and they were fantastic. When she sent me the images I knew the perfect place in Uptown Waterloo called Decorators Corner and I knew the perfect person to help me out. Thank you Becky! She's an amazing person and friend who works with some really NICE decor.

Marie-Josee Boily is the owner of Decorators Corner with some fine taste and a lot of french influence when it comes to decorating. From the furniture to the floors I found plenty of inspiration for what I was about to take. I took the ideas of what Kat wanted and put my own little twist on things. Debra Joseph my boss and close friend from FAB favorite accessories boutique contributed the accessories for the shoot. Decorators Corner is a place I've always wanted to snap some pics of with a model, I put it out there and it happened it worked out perfectly.

How Do I Look?

During wedding season it's nice to know that I can still find time for studio and checking out interesting sites for photo ideas. This past weekend I shot with Kendall Burgess, an aspiring model in the mists of working out acceptance with Sutherland Models. The agency loves her look but wanted to see some professional looking images and experience in front of the camera. Being a model is not an easy thing! It's hard work and it takes a unique look and perseverance to get you to that place where it pays well. It's normal for any first time model to be nervous in front of the camera. Getting to that place of comfort takes time.

In my expertise with models your either have it or you don't you need that je neis sais quoi! Kendall definitely has that. Im glad that she asked me to take some photos for her to get her to that place. She's only one step closer to doing something she could find a real career in. Jordan Hale a friend of Kendall's taged along to be apart of some of the photos. He also has a unique look but loves numbers a little more then modeling. If you enjoy something or have an interest pursuing some part of it will at least let you know if it's meant to be or not.

Greg and Marsha's Wedding

First time I shot a wedding in the rain and I loved it! This Guelph wedding was full of history and culture, Greg being from an Irish background and Marsha from Trinidad it was a colourful and beautiful wedding. I captured moments of the bride getting ready with her daughter, friends and family around her home and all the important details that tell a story.

Moving quickly to the church, I met up with Greg for some pre-ceremony shots. He was a little nervous but more excited and I could tell he couldn't wait to see Marsha and get married. I love watching the bride and groom at the ceremony but what I love even more is the looks on friends and family members faces before they say their I do's. Well at this wedding I saw a lot of smiles, tears of joy and positive energy because they where proud to see two people so happy together.

Congratulations to the both of you:)

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Did a great shoot this past long weekend with some great friends Debra Joseph and Carl Vosatka, owners of Fab Accessories Boutique and Twice is Nice in Waterloo. Debra came to me with a special request to recreate a photo that they have hanging up in the hall way of their home. Shannon Vosatka, their youngest daughter, had come up with this awesome idea for the both of them to go back to Langdon Hall, in Cambridge, to have this really cool comparison between both photos. I was so excited to do this because I love Langdon Hall. It's a beautiful place but they frown upon photos being taken at the front of the building so we had to be a little sneaky. Debra and Carl are such a good looking couple I didn't even notice the Jag they posed in front of or the building behind them. I so happy that we didn't get kicked out for being so sneaky and instead after taking the shot we went in for some drinks and appetizers. I didn't understand what the appetizer menu said, I just knew that it was really fancy. They both told me that if you don't know what it says it's usually really good and man was it ever. The last time I was at Langdon Hall was last summer to shoot a wedding and the salmon was pretty amazing but I was told what I was eating so I didn't have to worry about reading. On the serious side, thank you so much to the both of you I had an amazing time that I will always remember.
