Jess, Dez, Ella, and Albert the Goose

Last week I had a photo shoot with some of my really good friends Dez, Jessica, and Jessica's niece Ella. Jess wanted to get some really cute shots of Ella and herself having fun together at Waterloo Park. We decided we would walked down by the water to get some really cute pictures with the geese that were swimming around in the water. So I decided to make friendly nosies at the one goose. He just looked at me and tilted his head in hopes that I would be over done by his cuteness and maybe I would have some food to give him.

When I turned around to take photos of Jess and Ella, Albert the Goose had jumped up behind me and wanted to get in the picture taking action. Only problem was Albert is a little two aggressive and he wouldn't let us walk by to continue our session. He hissed at Jess, and Dez was ready to jump in the water. Well there was no way I was jumping in that water for a few good reasons A: it's not that clean and B: Albert could out swim me any day of the week.

Albert turned and walked a little bit ahead and we were all able to make our way by. He's very cute but he did give us a pretty good scare. If your wondering how Albert got his name it's because Dez likes to give names to everything and it just caught on.

Short HOT Hair at Shear...

Linda Bright Owner of Shear Heaven on 48 Laurel Street in Waterloo asked me if I could snap a couple pics of her work for a hair contest that shes entering. The prize is a trip to Paris! I hope she wins because that would be awesome and very inspirational. I absolutely love this hair style! Unfortunately for me I don't look as good with short hair but Vitina model in the photos looks killer with her short hair and she is a fantastic model.

We had a lot of good laughs but still very productive and Lynn did some very beautiful styling. It was super cute when Linda's husband came in for a quick preview of the photo shoot to see what it was all about. Thank you for coming out Trevor!

Chris and Nicola's Wedding

In February 2010 I photographed Nicola and Chris's wedding. It was a winter fairytale! They wanted a white wedding with fresh snow and they got their wish because the day before the wedding a good amount of snow fell. Groom Chris grew up in England and had never really seen much snow so having a wedding in the winter time makes it even more special and exciting. Chris was so prepared and happy to be out in the snow that he was out finding locations and shoveling pathways for pictures the day before the wedding.

Nicola and Chris got married at the Grist Mill in Waterloo Park. It's a beautiful location and the photo opportunities are endless. The ceremony was memorable and sweet. Being there photographing you can't help but get caught up in the emotion. I feel overjoyed to have the amazing privilege to be able to witness special moments like these. Congratulations you two!

Brock and Jamie-lee's Wedding

Brock and Jamie-lee had their wedding at the Melia Caribe Tropical Resort in Punta Cana. It was an amazing day with a ton of funny stories to be told for years to come. It all started back at the maid of honour and best man's room. Kyla, the maid of honour, went to speak to the maid that was cleaning all of our rooms. Kyla tried speaking English to the maid but she understood very little.

Kyla tired to express to the maid that we would like the bride's suite to be cleaned earlier for photos. She was very confused and looked puzzled and then very concerned. The maid called a ton of security guards over all talking on their radios. Well she had thought that Kyla was trying to tell her the bride's wedding ring was stolen.

Explaining to all of the security guards that there was no problem she tried asking for somebody who could translate better then what the rest of us could. They got a hold of one resort manager that spoke both languages perfect. Telling the manager the situation he became very relived. So relived he couldn't stop laughing and said "That's it!" and he explained to security what Kyla was trying to say. They couldn't stop laughing together and then we all were laughing pretty hard at this point.

Problem Solved! Head of Security and Resort Manager

The funny stories continued when Brock patiently waited for Jamie-lee to arrive at the ceremony. Everyone looked over and watched the horse and carriage pulling up. Brock started to smile, his eyes fixated to see Jamie-lee. Brock started to look harder and so did everyone who attended, they realized the wrong bride was making her way down. The driver had dropped off the wrong bride! She didn't recognise anyone so she ran back to the driver. In hopes that he would take her to the right wedding, and he did. The driver turned around back to where Jamie-lee was waiting. His second attempt was a success!

Jamie-lee, Brock, and the other Bride

Jamie-lee couldn't look more beautiful and Brock couldn't look more handsome, the ceremony was perfect but weddings couldn't be complete with out stories like these.

Punta Cana 2010

Punta Cana was BEAUTIFUL! It's amazing that places like the Dominican are getting 25+ weather in February when we are used to experiencing cold, snow and below 0 temperatures. As soon as you get off the plane you can't help but smile! IT'S WARM HERE! In the summer time it's too hot to handle for us and even Dominican's but this is their home. Dominican's work in some of the hottest weather imaginable. Canadians break a sweat at 25+. You look at a Dominican, not a drop, it's unreal!

We stayed at the Melia Caribe Tropical with 20 other guests attending Jamie-lee and Brock's wedding. It's a massive, lush, and beautiful resort! At one time it was two separate resorts but now it's combined into one. It's definitely confusing at first because there's two of everything and the aesthetic of both sides is very similar in a lot of ways.

Dominican's are wonderful people and love to joke and be around visitors from all over the world. Anytime I was taking pictures they would yell paparazzi at me and laugh then pose or do something silly. They work very hard for very little money and travel from all over the island to work for a good 2 weeks. Then they go home for 3 days to see their families and then back again to work 12 to 15 hour days. Doing more then one job at a time! They live in housing provided for them not to far from the resort.

Your stay in the resort is paradise compared to outside the resort. You see the difference when you get off the plane into the bus to the resort. You can drink as much as you want, eat as much as you like and dance at the disco until 4am. You wake up in the morning and you see palm trees everywhere and you hear the sounds of tropical birds. It's a real vacation!
